Feel the happiness & peace when your running route is surrounded with totally amazing colorful orchid flowers, beautiful rocks, fresh air and greenery scene! The Kuala Lumpur Orchid Garden located at right in the city center, was officially opened by Datin Seri Dr. Siti Hasmah on 15th April, 1986 (33 years ago!). Honestly, if you read Google Reviews, the fact that this garden is lacking of maintenance after so many years. I would say that this park is at 60% maintenance level, you will still able to see many truly unique-shaped, beautiful orchid flowers, very very few people, quiet, super fresh air, very clean jogging / walking track. And the entrance is F-R-E-E!
For a brief introduction, this Kuala Lumpur Orchid Garden was set up primarily as a showcase of the nation’s rich variety of orchids, as well as to provide a center for the growing, conservation, research and study of this wonderful flowering genus of plant. Set in the lush undulating greenery of the city’s Taman Tasik Perdana (Perdana Botanical Lake Gardens), it provides a striking visual display of the orchid family in all its glory.
Comprising a semi-circular pergola for climbing and epiphytic orchid, plus a rock garden for the terrestrial varieties the garden crowns the top of a gently sloping hillock, overlooking well-teaded gardens climbing orchids grow vertically from the ground, thus needing support for their roots to cling on. epiphytic orchids need a host plant, preferably a dead tree trunk to grow on. meanwhile, terrestrial orchids grow on the ground.
